David M. Arnold serves National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) as the Assistant Vice President for Health, Safety, and Well-being Initiatives, having joined the NASPA team in 2014 after 10 years working in college alcohol and other drug prevention and health promotion and work with the BACCHUS Network as the director of alcohol abuse prevention initiatives. David holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Texas, where he served as a peer educator and later a peer education advisor, receiving honors from the BACCHUS Network and American College Health Association. As a new professional, his work surrounded substance abuse prevention, the prevention of HIV infections among college students, and mental health outreach for 7 years at the University of North Texas during which time he was awarded by the University of North Texas School of Community Service and the Division of Student Development. David has spoken or presented at over 50 national, regional, state, and local conferences on collegiate substance abuse prevention, substance abuse policy development and federal compliance, campus well-being initiatives, the measurement and contribution of health programs to student success, and communication skills. David is a master trainer for the Certified Peer Educator program and directs the support of peer education initiatives provided by the BACCHUS Initiatives of NASPA. In his current role, David serves as the administrator of the Coalition of Colorado Campus Alcohol and Drug Educators (CADE) and the Health Colleges Montana (HCM) statewide coalitions. David serves on coalitions and committees for substance abuse prevention, the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence, quality improvement in college health, and other specific well-being initiatives. He is currently the chair of the Coalition of Higher Education Associations for Substance Abuse Prevention (CoHEASAP).
