Michael Santillo is a person in long-term recovery. He is a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor with twenty-eight years of experience in the field. He is currently the Executive Director of Operations at John Brooks Recovery Center, one of the leading residential, outpatient and medication assisted treatment providers of substance use disorders treatment in New Jersey. He has designed, implemented and supervised a wide array of treatment and recovery support services including: residential and outpatient substance use and mental health disorders treatment programs, recovery housing services, jail and prison re-entry programs, primary care services, an Opioid Overdose Recovery Program and the first Recovery Community Center in the State of New Jersey providing a full array of peer-to-peer recovery support services.
Mr. Santillo has worked as a consultant to the New Jersey Administrative Courts and Public Defenders office. He has served as a member of SAMHSA’s State Best Practices Opioid Misuse Prevention and Treatment Panel, NJ Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services Professional Advisory Committee (PAC), NJ Bringing Recovery Supports to Scale Technical Assistance Center Strategy Policy Academy, Administrative Office of the Courts Drug Court Treatment Subcommittee, chair of the PAC Recovery Support Services Workgroup, chair of the Coalition for Addiction Recovery Supports Advisory Committee and President of the Association of Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Halfway Houses of NJ. Mr. Santillo is a recognized subject-matter expert in the field of addiction and recovery, recovery-orientated systems of care and the integration of primary care, behavioral health and recovery support services.
